The partners of the SmartenIT project met in Darmstadt (Germany) on March 5–7, 2014. The event was hosted by one of the partners – Technische Universität Darmstadt (TUD).

During the 6th SmatenIT meeting, significant effort was dedicated to Review Feedback Discussion being stimulated by successful results from Y1 review held in Brussels on January 23rd. Using detailed report of reviewers Prof. Stiller has overviewed, commented the report and drawn direct conclusions for the second and third years of running the SmartenITproject.
Then, WP2 focused on:
  • advanced UCs specification, possibility of UCs update as well as related parameters and metrics,
  • further specification of selected traffic management mechanisms,
  • investigation on incentives, business models, and collaboration schemes,
  • recognition of synergies between traffic management mechanisms and investigation of potential integration of them (e.g., DTM+ICC, RB-HORST+QoEnA+vINCENT integration), and
  • assessment of preliminary evaluation results.
WP3 concentrated on implementation aspects, implementation framework, work organization, and mechanisms specification for implementation with mapping to system architecture components and modules. Open issues in technology scouting have been discussed. The release plan has been defined.

Within WP4, the preliminary testbed experiments, basic testbed design (plus possible extensions), as well as testbed metrics were discussed. The consortium members have also discussed the methodology for measurements to be taken during the testbed experiments and required instrumentation. Suitable experiments and application use cases for both End-user Focused Scenario and Operator Focused Scenario were considered. A common experiment reporting approach has been discussed resulting in a specification of report template for both simulation based and testbed experiments.

WP5 concentrated on plans for the next couple of months including external liaisons plan, activity in standardization bodies, and dissemination plan.

Necessary interactions between workpackages for prototype specification, implementation, evaluation, and testing were clarified.

Meeting proceeded in a very productive atmosphere.
