The paper Fair Allocation of Multiple Resources Using a Non-monetary Allocation Mechanism by members of SmartenIT's UZH division was presented at AIMS 2013. The paper presents initial research ideas of Patrick Poullie for his Ph.D. thesis and adresses non-monetary but fair allocation of multiple computing resources, such as CPU, RAM, and Bandwidth. As recognized by recent papers such problem becomes more and more relevant with the rise of shared computing infrastructures but is under-investigated. Since the presented problem as well as algorithm can be applied to cloud federation scenarios and resource allocations in online social network (wherefore it is relevant to implement social awareness), it will be researched further in the framework of the SmartenIT project. |
