SmartenIT member Corinna Schmitt (UZH) was invited to SICS Swedish ICT in Stockholm to present here research on efficient and secure data transmission in wireless sensor networks. This research is currently under standardization of IETF WG CoRE in subgroup Authentication & Authorization (AA). It deals with establishing an end-to-end security solution by supporting a two-way authentication in networks with constraint devices and is scope of the external liaisons plan with the EU project FLAMINGO, where UZH is partner.

Summarizing the relevant impact of the invited talk by SICS Swedish ICT it can be stated that SICS is very interesting in the presented solution as well as in upcoming cooperation (perhaps in Horizon 2020). The followed discussion within the audience and in individual meetings showed that it has to be investigated how to bring trust into communication and that it is important to use standards, as well as supporting independency to layers below the application layer. The solution should also be applicable to different scenarios, network sizes, and hardware.
