Meeting Objectives: On February 27 and 28, 2013, member of the SmartenIT’s delegation (from AGH) attended the 11th FP7 Concertation Meeting in Brussels, Belgium. The main goals of the concertation meetings were: enhancing possible cooperation between FP7 projects, sharing latest research achievements, submission of common activities in projects and discussion among participants; all to identify and determine the reasons for those meetings in the future and the respective format and content to be considered usefully by the projects and the EC. The goal of the 11th FP7 Concertation Meeting was to strengthen planned activities through the preparation of the new Rolling Work Programme (RWP). The RWP provide the general strategy framework including the structure of “thematic clusters”, the description of each concertation activity, then indicate priorities and target deadlines. Future cooperation should be performed in Working Grups (WGs), set up to perform the activities of the agreed WRP.

The 11th FP7 Concertation Meeting was composed of 2 parts: plenary and research working group (“cluster) session. The plenary session was preceded by meetings in four parallel groups (clusters): Future Internet (FI), Converged and Optical Networks (CaON), Radio Access and Spectrum (RAS) and the Internet of Things (IoT). Representative of the SmartenIT project  participated in the FI session.

Meeting Outcome: The project MEDIEVAL was considered of relevance for a possible collaboration with SmartenIT besides SAIL, which was already indicated in SmartenIT’s confidential Deliverable D5.1. The SmartenIT-organized Workshop SETM and related ETM topics were proposed to be a potential working group for the Cluster, which would be lead by SmartenIT. New groups were not created so far.

Meeting Impact on SmartenIT: The main SmartenIT technical and scientific goals have been found of relevant interest by a number of cluster meeting attendees. The workshop organized by SmartenIT was formally announced and CfP leaflets have been distributed, thus, the Future Internet Cluster is formally aware of this activity.

The next concertation meeting will take place on October 22-23, 2013 in Brussels. The main topic in the Future Internet Cluster will be energy efficiency.
